Hearty Congratulations, dear Father Jerry Mathew!

Jerry Mathew was ordained a priest for the Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy in the USA and Canada on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Syro-Malankara Catholic Cathedral in Elmont by His Excellency the Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius. Present on the occasion were also His Excellency Thomas Mar Koorilos, Archbishop of Tiruvalla, His Excellency Yoohanon Mar Chysostom, Bishop of Pathanamthitta, His Excellency James Massa, the auxiliary bishop of Brooklyn.

Brother Jobin Thomas receives the Minor Orders

Brother Jobin Thomas, studying theology at the St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie for our Eparchy, received the Minor Orders of msamrono and korooyo from His Excellency the Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius during the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 7.00 am on Saturday, June 25 at the Syro-Malankara Catholic Cathedral in Elmont. These are the Orders of ‘singing’ and ‘reading the Word of God’ respectively. Brother Jobin hails from our community in Toronto.

Deacon Jerry Mathew Graduates

Deacon Jerry Mathew graduated from St. Joseph's Dunwoodie seminary, Yonkers on May 20, 2016. He received his Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Theology, and Bachelor of Sacred Theology. During the ceremony, he was also awarded the St. Charles Borromeo Award for Academic Excellence for finishing first in his class with a perfect 4.0 GPA. The graduate's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas and Gracy Mathew, Fr. Michael Edathil, and Bro. Jobin Thomas were present at the event.

The oldest Malankara Catholic Parish in New York gains a church of its own

The St. Mary’s Syro-Malankara Catholic Parish, one of the three New York based parishes in the Eparchy, is blessed with a beautiful place of worship of its own in Yonkers. The parish community has been able to purchase the Most Holy Trinity Church in Yonkers from the Archdiocese of New York. This parish community was the first Syro-Malankara Catholic community established officially in the USA. Till date, this parish has been gathering for its worships and other ecclesial events at a facility in New Rochelle. The inaugural Holy Mass in the newly owned church was celebrated at 4.00 pm.

Meeting of the Pastoral Council

A meeting of the Eparchial Pastoral Councils was held on Saturday, April 23 at the Eparchial Chancery. His Excellency Mar Eusebius presided over the meeting. His Excellency gave an update of the major activities and developments of the Eparchy in the recent past and also of the forthcoming major Eparchial events such as the priestly ordination of Deacon Jerry Mathew, annual retreat for priests and sisters, Malankara Bible Convention, Mar Ivanios Day, Religious Profession of Jocelyn Edathil, etc.. Reception to His Excellency to the Dunwoodie Seminary and blessing of the Malankara Chapel

The St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie, New York accorded a warm reception to His Excellency The Most Rev. Thomas Mar Eusebius on the occasion of the establishment of the new Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy and the appointment of His Excellency as the first bishop of the Eparchy. Good Friday and Easter Celebration

His Excellency Mar Eusebius presided over the Good Friday and Easter liturgies at the St. Vincent de Paul Malankara Catholic Cathedral in Elmont. The special liturgy of the Good Friday was started after the celebration of the Holy Qurbono, as this year the Feast of the Annunciation coincided with the Good Friday. The Good Friday celebrations were concluded at 2.30 pm. The Qyomtho celebrations started at 8.15 pm. on Saturday and concluded with the solemn celebration of the Holy Qurbono. Service of the Washing of the Feet

His Excellency the Most Rev. Thomas Mar Eusebius conducted the service of the Washing of the Feet on the Maundy Thursday at the St. Mary’s Malankara Catholic parish, New Rochelle. In the Malankara traditions, only bishops are entitled to do this service. Commemorating event of Jesus washing the feet of his twelve disciples, the bishop ceremoniously washed the feet of twelve people from the parish, including the parish priest. Palm Sunday Celebration

His Excellency the Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius, the Bishop of the Eparchy officiated the Palm Sunday celebrations at the St. Thomas Syro-Malankara Catholic Parish of New Jersey. The special liturgy of the Palm Sunday began at 10.00 am at the community hall of the Divine Mercy Parish in Rahway. The Palm Sunday liturgy was followed by the celebration of the Holy Mass. Rt. Rev.
