The Exhumation of the Tomb of Servant of God Mar Ivanios

The tomb of Servant of God Archbishop Mar Ivanios, the proponent of the Malankara Reunion Movement was exhumed for canonical recognition on Monday, June 23, 2014. This was done as a canonical requirement in the process of the canonization. The service started with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided over by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis, the Major Archbishop-Catholicos of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church. All the bishops of the Church concelebrated the Holy Eucharist. The whole service was concluded with the reburial of the mortal remains at 7.30 pm. The examination of the tomb and the mortal remains was done by a team of medical doctors and canonical experts. Specially invited delegates spent time in prayer in the tomb chapel during the service. His Excellency the Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius, Bishop of the Exarchate and Rt. Rev. Msgr. Peter Kochery, Vicar General of the Exarchate also participated in the services. More than 20,000 faithful came to pay homage to the mortal remains.
