Jn 14:1-6

Last Supper Discourses. 1* “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith* in God; have faith also in me. 2In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3* And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be.a 4Where [I] am going you know the way.”* 5Thomas said to him, “Master, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?” 6Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth* and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.b

Gen 12:1-9

The LORD said to Abram: Go forth from your land, your relatives, and from your father’s house to a land that I will show you. I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. All the families of the earth will find blessing in you.

Abram went as the LORD directed him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran. Abram took his wife Sarai, his brother’s son Lot, all the possessions that they had accumulated, and the persons they had acquired in Haran, and they set out for the land of Canaan. When they came to the land of Canaan, Abram passed through the land as far as the sacred place at Shechem, by the oak of Moreh. The Canaanites were then in the land.

The LORD appeared to Abram and said: To your descendants I will give this land. So Abram built an altar there to the L

Prov 4:10-18

Hear, my son, and receive my words,

and the years of your life shall be many.

On the way of wisdom I direct you,

I lead you on straight paths.

When you walk, your step will not be impeded,

and should you run, you will not stumble.

Hold fast to instruction, never let it go;

keep it, for it is your life.

The path of the wicked do not enter,

nor walk in the way of the evil;

Shun it, do not cross it,

turn aside from it, pass on.

For they cannot rest unless they have done evil;

if they do not trip anyone they lose sleep.

For they eat the bread of wickedness

and drink the wine of violence.

Job 23:1-7

Then Job answered and said:

Today especially my complaint is bitter,

his hand is heavy upon me in my groanings.

Would that I knew how to find him,

that I might come to his dwelling!

I would set out my case before him,

fill my mouth with arguments;

I would learn the words he would answer me,

understand what he would say to me.

Would he contend against me with his great power?

No, he himself would heed me!

There an upright man might argue with him,

and I would once and for all be delivered from my judge.

1 Cor 4:15-21

15Even if you should have countless guides to Christ, yet you do not have many fathers, for I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel.g 16Therefore, I urge you, be imitators of me.h 17For this reason I am sending you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord; he will remind you of my ways in Christ [Jesus], just as I teach them everywhere in every church.i

18* Some have become inflated with pride, as if I were not coming to you. 19But I will come to you soon, if the Lord is willing, and I shall ascertain not the talk of these inflated people but their power. 20For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.j 21Which do you prefer? Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love and a gentle spirit?k

Jn 20:19-29

Appearance to the Disciples.* 19On the evening of that first day of the week,j when the doors were locked, where the disciples* were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side.* The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.k 21* [Jesus] said to them again,l “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” 22* And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them,m “Receive the holy Spirit. 23* n Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.”

Thomas. 24Thomas, called Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. 25So the other disciples said to him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nailmarks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”o 26Now a week later his disciples were again inside and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, although the doors were locked, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.”p 27Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe.” 28* q Thomas answered and said to him, “My Lord and my God!” 29* Jesus said to him, “Have you come to believe because you have seen me?r Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”
