Liturgical Season:
Special Significance:
Saints Martha, Mary and Lazarus of Bethany

Heb 13:1-6

1* Let mutual love continue. 2Do not neglect hospitality, for through it some have unknowingly entertained angels.a 3Be mindful of prisoners as if sharing their imprisonment, and of the ill-treated as of yourselves, for you also are in the body.b 4Let marriage be honored among all and the marriage bed be kept undefiled, for God will judge the immoral and adulterers.c 5Let your life be free from love of money but be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never forsake you or abandon you.”d 6Thus we may say with confidence:

“The Lord is my helper,

[and] I will not be afraid.

What can anyone do to me?”e

Lk 10:38-42

Martha and Mary.* 38a As they continued their journey he entered a village where a woman whose name was Martha welcomed him. 39* She had a sister named Mary [who] sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak. 40Martha, burdened with much serving, came to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving? Tell her to help me.” 41The Lord said to her in reply, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things. 42* There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her.”
